Web Design

I am a low-tech web site designer specializing in helping people get their first web pages on line. The pages I design look great on all browsers, load quickly, and are generally legible even to people using text-based browsers. I can either maintain sites myself or train staff in how to do their own updating and HTML coding.

I am also available to consult on the fine points of obtaining an ISP, registering a domain name, and designing and maintaining web sites. Some examples of my work:

Wah Mee
I worked with author Todd Matthews to design the online version of his book about the Wah Mee Massacre. The site includes over 20 pages, scanned images and customized graphics. I also taught Todd enough HTML that he now updates and maintains this site himself.

Social Responsibilities Round Table
I helped the Social Responsibilities Round Table of the American Library Association get their first web page up, including on-line versions of their quarterly newsletter, a document archive, and links to breaking action items of interest to the association

The Foundation for Russian American Economic Cooperation
I designed the Community Connections section of this website which was later used as a template for the rest of the FRAEC site. I created a logo, scanned and placed graphics, and worked with clients who had no previous web site experience.

jessamyn.com
I maintain my own web site including a regularly updated journal, a Donald Barthelme fan page and a fact sheet on Jessamyn West the author. The site gets 1500 hits per week and has been online since September 1995.
